Sanjeet Sharma has joined TEMcompany as our first dedicated employee in India. Many of you will know Sanjeet through his work with AllGeo Solutions, where he has built a team of experts to deliver TEM geophysical surveys across the Indian subcontinent, including critical groundwater mapping for the Jal Jeevan Mission, the government’s program to bring safe drinking water to every rural household in India.

Sanjeet’s connection to TEMcompany runs deep. He has a master’s degree in Applied Geology from Allahabad University, where he studied alongside our CTO, Pradip Maurya, and has been using our sTEM instruments in the field since 2024. He knows the technology, the Indian market, and the groundwater and mineral challenges the country faces.

On 25 February 2026, our CEO, Esben Auken, presented at the USK Consulting Africa webinar series, Advanced Geophysics for Site Characterisation. The session brought together engineers, scientists, and practitioners from across the global geoscience and mining community.

The webinar formed part of an ongoing series run by USK Consulting Africa, designed to share technical expertise and best practice across the geoscience and mining industries. TEMcompany was invited to contribute, given its established position in the development and application of Transient Electromagnetic (TEM) technology for subsurface investigation.

Esben delivered a 45-minute technical presentation titled ‘Transient Electromagnetics (TEM): Applications in Hydrogeological Investigations for Mining and Groundwater Resources’, followed by a live Q&A session where attendees could ask questions directly. TEMcompany at XIX World Water Congress

From December 1-5, 2025, we joined over 1,500 participants from more than 80 countries at the XIX World Water Congress in Marrakech, where our Danish geophysical mapping technology attracted high-level ministerial attention and featured prominently on Morocco’s national television.

The congress, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, brought together experts, researchers, policymakers, and private-sector representatives to address challenges in water, natural ecosystems, energy, and agriculture in the face of climate change. We were represented by Lis Gammelgaard, Technical Sales Specialist, and Jonathan Satchell, Head of Design & Communication, who showcased how our transient electromagnetic technology is supporting sustainable water resource management initiatives worldwide.

Local partnerships take center stage

Throughout the week, we had many discussions about groundwater mapping applications across North Africa. The team was joined by valued Moroccan partners: Najib El Goumi from Geosciences Explor, who has hands-on field experience using our sTEM10 system across the region, and Khalid Elmohammadi from Isomesure, who represents us in Morocco.

“It was incredibly valuable to have Najib and Khalid with us throughout the week,” said Jonathan “Their real-world field experience and deep understanding of the region’s specific challenges added depth to our conversations with congress participants.”

Ministerial visits highlight technology’s impact

On day three, we received visits from two influential ministers working at the forefront of water security in their nations. Nizar Baraka, Morocco’s Minister for Equipment and Water, and Patrick Gervais Assirvaden, Mauritius’ Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, both spent time exploring our range of TEM instruments and discussing how geophysical groundwater mapping technology could support their countries’ water security priorities. Both ministers showed particular interest in how the technology could support sustainable water management strategies as their countries navigate the challenges posed by climate change and rising water demand.

Featured on Morocco’s national television

Our participation gained significant visibility when Medi1TV, Morocco’s prominent national news channel, featured the company in its main Evening News segment. The broadcast, which reached viewers across Morocco, the wider Maghreb region, and audiences throughout North Africa, Europe, and the Middle East via satellite, showcased how Danish groundwater mapping technology is addressing critical water security challenges.

Lis demonstrated our instruments to reporters on camera, explaining how the technology works and its applications for groundwater exploration. She was joined by Najib, who shared his practical experience using the sTEM10 system in field surveys across Morocco, and Khalid, who provided context on the growing demand for reliable groundwater mapping technology in the region.

“We’re incredibly excited that our Danish technology is making a real difference for communities around the world,” said Lis. “The media coverage helped tell that story to a much wider audience.”

Contributing to global water goals

Our participation in the congress aligns with TEMcompany’s commitment to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation for all) and strengthening partnerships essential to a water-secure future.

The congress provided valuable opportunities to connect with organizations working on critical water projects globally, share insights on how TEM technology supports water security initiatives, and learn from diverse challenges and innovative solutions being implemented across different regions.

The week concluded with the adoption of the Marrakech Declaration, a landmark collective appeal calling for water to be elevated as a top-tier priority at major international platforms, including COP31, the 2026 UN Water Conference, and the 11th World Water Forum in 2027.

The congress featured participation from 30 ministerial delegations from around the world, representatives from the United Nations, and personnel from numerous international agencies, alongside more than 140 technical presentations and exhibitions showcasing the latest innovations in water technologies.

We recently received data and images from Steffen Ringsø Nielsen, a PHD Student who is undertaking permafrost mapping research in Greenland with colleague, Daniel Juul Okholm, with DTU Sustain, part of the Department of Environmental and Resource Engineering in Denmark.

As part of his Phd project ‘NUNA SISOORTOQ – Natural Hazards of Mudslides and Permafrost Detachment in Sedimentary Environments’, Steffen is studying Arctic mud and landslides that have resulted from the thawing permafrost in sedimentary environments.

Focussed on permafrost distribution in the Qeqqata Kommunia area and examining the climate’s effect on the active layer of the permafrost, the project’s end goal is to develop a geohazard map of potential mud and landslides to prevent accidents in the area.

In July 2025, the Arctic Circle Road in Qeqqata Kommunia opened. It’s an ATV road connecting Sisimiut with Kangerlussuaq and continues all the way to the Ice Cap. This road is the first road connecting the two towns in Greenland.

Stretches of the road suffer from thawing permafrost, making it difficult to predict where the permafrost will cause damage next. Therefore, the sedimentary basins along the entire trail have been investigated using the TEM2Go. The investigation covers a transect of 200 km, also making it the longest stretch of open land in Greenland from East to West.

This transect also gives the possibility to understand how the permafrost distribution changes from inland to coastal climate. Half of the transect runs through a UNESCO area, which features ancient ruins and hunting grounds from the first Inuit people.

At this site, Aasivissuit, the TEM measurement clearly shows two layers, one of high resistivity and one of low resistivity. Looking at the upper marine limits in the landscape, it is evident that the sea once covered this area. Consequently, some salt is left in the lower layer, which decreases the freezing points of the sediments. The upper layer is younger glacial deposits and is permafrozen.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Victor Bense, Associate Professor of Hydrogeology from the Department of Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University, located in the Netherlands, to our headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark.

Wageningen University has purchased a TEM2Go, and during his visit, Professor Bense received training in the operation of the instrument. The TEM2Go will be used as part of Professor Bense’s lectures at Wageningen University, as well as for comparing TEM technology with other established geophysical methods.

Since the TEM2Go was picked up at our headquarters, we were pleased to provide hands-on training in both the equipment and the software. The training was conducted under the supervision of our geophysicist Teodora Blagoeva, together with our sales specialists Frederik Ersted Christensen and Lis Gammelgaard.

The training session included practical exercises conducted in the field, where Professor Bense was introduced to the assembly and operation of the instrument, followed by a detailed walkthrough of data analysis in our new TEMimage data processing software.

We’re very excited to enter this phase of seeing our TEM2Go being sent out to customers and being used in the field.

Months of careful planning came together in Nairobi on September 22, as our International Sales & Marketing Specialist, Emma Nives Lorenzen, hosted a Product Launch Breakfast and Distributor Agreement Signing in partnership with Nariana Enterprises Limited. The event was opened by Sanjay Oberai, the Managing Director of Nariana Enterprise Limited, and co-hosted by Emma alongside TEMcompany CEO Esben Auken, who introduced our latest innovative instrument, the TEM2Go geoscanner, and our sTEM system.

The event featured an inspiring lineup of speakers, including:

  • Jøren Erik Larsen – Water Sector Counsellor, Royal Danish Embassy in Kenya

In the 17th episode of the Industry Connected podcast, produced by the Water Well Journal, the leading industry resource published by the National Groundwater Association (NGWA), Senior Editor and host Mike Price sat down with our CEO, Esben Auken

Together, they had an insightful conversation about TEMcompany’s innovative geophysical scanner technology and how it is transforming the way groundwater resources are discovered and managed.

Esben explained how our geophysical scanners create detailed images of subsurface geological layers, making it easier to identify aquifers, determine drilling depths, and ensure that water resources are sustainable over time.

From these images we can then get a very good idea about the geological layers. The water will normally be in sand and gravel layers. (…) When we make our measurements, we can get an idea of how big the extent of sand and gravel layers is. And by that, we get a good idea of how deep we have to drill. But we also know that when we start pumping water up, we can come with an estimate that we’re not over-pumping, but that we can also pump in a year or two because we know how big these saline and gravel layers are in the subsurface.”

A central theme of the discussion was also risk mitigation. By mapping groundwater resources before drilling, TEM technology helps investors, drillers, and communities avoid the costly consequences of failed wells:

If we have a good image of the size of the aquifer, it’s basically a risk mitigation. If I put an investment into having these relatively inexpensive investigations first, my business case is much better because I have mitigated the risks of making a very expensive installation of pumps and boreholes, and infrastructure, and then I find out after some years that the aquifer is not big enough.”

Looking ahead, Esben shared his thoughts on the future of the geophysical industry, highlighting how innovation in this space can help mitigate both economic risks and environmental impacts, while opening up new opportunities for sustainable groundwater management.

Last week, we had the pleasure of showing representatives from the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWe), the Ethiopian Water Technology Institute (EWTI), Hawassa University, and Haramaya University around TEMcompany headquarters in relation to the project Rapid Groundwater Resource Mapping (RGRMP), funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. The visit was arranged in conjunction with the HydroGeophysics Group at the Department of Geoscience, represented by Christos Boufidis.

It was great to demonstrate our newest product, the TEM2Go, and for us to show them around our production facility in Aarhus.

The project aims to strengthen Integrated Water Resource Management in Ethiopia by improving knowledge of groundwater mapping in arid and semi-arid environments, supporting the Government of Ethiopia’s pursuit of equal water access for all. The project has been using TEMcompany instruments across a number of its surveys.

As part of the project, the HydroGeophysics Group conducted a 10-day training course. The course covered theoretical areas such as fieldwork for data acquisition, data processing, and data interpretation of ERT and ground-based TEM data.

We’re always happy to showcase our geophysical scanners and ongoing research results within the field of geophysics to our visitors. We strongly believe that our instruments and knowledge-sharing efforts can help address global water challenges and make groundwater mapping accessible to all.

Innovative Managed Aquifer Recharge Surveys in Somalia

Earlier this year, a team from UNICEF Somalia, in collaboration with Professor Denys Grombacher and Matthew Griffiths from Aarhus University, conducted geophysical surveys in Dollow, Somalia using an sTEM10 with a Profiler rig.

The UNICEF Somalia team comprised RWASH Manager Khawaja Nisar Ahmed, WASH Officers Mohamud Hussein and Issa Sheikh Mohamed Burale, together with the UNICEF WASH Innovation Hub team, including Vijay Matta, Principal Hydrogeologist, and Kwanayi Meki, WASH Specialist.

Together, the team undertook geophysical mapping for potential Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) sites, inspected new pump installations, and tested water samples. This project involves local communities and experts in building and maintaining water systems, as well as creating a model that can be applied in other countries.

The work, led by UNICEF’s Office of Innovation, focuses on MAR (where water is added to underground water stores (aquifers), so it can be used later to boost water supplies during dry periods). MAR is part of the Regional WASH (RWASH) project, which is sourcing new ways to produce sustainable and equitable water.

TEMcompany looks forward to working more closely with UNICEF teams worldwide in the future to help provide access to clean water and reliable sanitation. We’re proud to be part of this process, delivering impactful water projects globally.
